How to Travel the World on 50 Dollars a Day

Fifty dollars a day sounds impossible. It is not. You just have to make different choices.

Stay in hostels. Not hotels. A dorm bed costs ten to fifteen dollars in most of the world. You meet people. You get local tips. It is better than a hotel room.

Eat where locals eat. Not tourist restaurants. Street food is cheap and often better. In Thailand, a pad thai from a street cart costs one dollar. In a restaurant, it costs eight.

Walk or take public transport. Not taxis or Ubers. Buses and trains are cheaper and you see more. Walking is free and you discover things you would miss from a car.

Book accommodation with kitchen access. Cook your own meals. Even in expensive cities, groceries are cheaper than eating out.

Travel slowly. Moving costs money. Stay longer in fewer places. You save on transport. You also get to know a place instead of just passing through.

The world is cheaper than you think. Your daily budget is enough. You just have to spend it differently.
